Artist of the Cook Islands.
Jeanne Humphreys lives on Atiu Island
with
her husband Marshall. They have seven grown children.
Her
mother Akekarapo, was an Atiuan and her father was Tom Neale, author of
'An Island To Oneself'.
From
an early age she was fascinated by the art world and always desired to
paint.
In
1989 she began painting on cloth for Sunday School supplies in evangelism,
moving
quickly to water-colours and oils.
Her
mediums include water-colour, acrylic, oil and textile paint.
She
is known for her scenery, flowers and fish on tapa cloth.
Jeanne
also has hand painted garments for Ellena Tavioni, Tav Ltd, Rarotonga.
These
are sold at the Tav shops in Rarotonga Cook Islands, Samoa and TAV Pacific
in Auckland NZ.
Since
2005 some of these garments have been modeled on the runway by
Tav
at the Air NZ Fashion Week in Auckland, NZ.
Her
work has been exhibited and sold in the Cook Islands & NZ and
sent
as far a-field as England, Europe, Canada, United States, Australia and
the Pacific.
